Verification

Skills verified in person, not just on paper

Workers demonstrate their trade. Human assessors record what they can do, alongside background checks and document review.

Trade tests

How a trade test works

  1. 1

    Book

Confirm the trade, requirements, worker consent and an available appointment.

  2. 2

    Test at a centre

The worker completes practical tasks in person using appropriate tools and safety procedures.

  3. 3

    Assessor scores

A human assessor records observations against agreed criteria and reviews the result.

  4. 4

    Report issued

A reviewed report brings together skills evidence, check status and any gaps.

Trades we test

Proposed trade coverage. Tests, equipment and assessor availability are confirmed per location.

  • Electrician
  • Welder
  • Plumber
  • Mason
  • Carpenter
  • HVAC technician
  • Driver
  • Steel fixer
  • Caregiver
  • Hospitality staff
  • Background checks

Checks are relevant to the role and corridor, and coordinated with worker consent. Reports distinguish completed checks, pending work and concerns that need human review. A pending check is never presented as a clear result.

  • Our assessors

The proposed standard is relevant trade expertise, training in assessment criteria, safe test delivery and evidence recording. People sign off results and review disputed scores. Assessor profiles and the final training standard will be shared with partners before any test.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Is a trade test the same as document verification?

No. A trade test observes practical work in person. Documents provide supporting information but do not replace a skills demonstration.

What if a worker fails a test?

The report records the skills demonstrated and gaps identified. The worker can ask for a review and discuss training or reassessment. Retest arrangements are confirmed directly; passing and placement are never guaranteed.

Can I book any of these centres now?

The list shows planned coverage in origin countries, not open centres. Contact SODH to confirm a real location, trade and appointment before making arrangements.

Who approves the score?

A human assessor reviews the practical evidence and signs off the result. AI organises the records; it does not make the final assessment.

Do workers pay SODH?

No. SODH does not charge workers for skills verification or access to opportunities.
