Skills

Hire construction workers, with skills checked in person.

Projects depend on qualified, safety-trained trades arriving when each phase starts.

Roles in construction

  • Electricians

Install, test and maintain wiring, panels and electrical systems on site.

  • Welders

Join metal to a drawing and a standard, in the process and position the job needs.

  • Plumbers

Install and repair pipework, fittings and drainage in buildings.

  • Masons

Build and finish brick, block and stone work to line and level.

  • Carpenters

Measure, cut and assemble timber for formwork, frames and fittings.

  • Steel fixers

Cut, bend and tie reinforcement steel to the structural drawings.

  • Scaffolders

Erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding that others can safely work from.

  • HVAC technicians

Install, service and repair heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.

Trade tests

How a trade test works

  1. 1

    Book

Confirm the trade, requirements, worker consent and an available appointment.

  2. 2

    Test at a centre

The worker completes practical tasks in person using appropriate tools and safety procedures.

  3. 3

    Assessor scores

A human assessor records observations against agreed criteria and reviews the result.

  4. 4

    Report issued

A reviewed report brings together skills evidence, check status and any gaps.
